What to do Before the Pest Control Arrives
It is vital to to prepare for bed bug heat treatment correctly. You will need to follow our checklist below. Before we start the treatment, we will require you to move certain items from the infested areas. Please also see our FAQ page for further advice.
We are not responsible for damage to any items during heat treatment so please follow these instructions carefully and if you are unsure, ask.
DO NOT:
- DO NOT USE OR LEAVE ITEMS IN CARDBOARD BOXES
- DO NOT apply your own insecticides before or after treatment
BEFORE WE ARRIVE:
- No small loose items are to be left on the floor
- All large items of furniture are to be moved at least 12 inches from walls and are not to be stacked
- Place small non heat sensitive items into milk crates and store in the centre of the room. Small items includes things like toys, shoes, small electronics.
- Large electronic items such as TV’s and computers should be left in place
- Vacuum thoroughly and empty the bag
- Un-laundered linen, towels etc are to be placed loosely into open weave laundry baskets
- Remove all pets (including fish)
- Remove all plants
- Walkers and Wheelchairs must be treated
- Remove all rubbish
- Increase the temperature of your heating around two hours before the treatment is due to start
- Take minimal items with you when leaving
- Clothing that you wear or take with you should be washed immediately upon returning home
ITEMS THAT CANNOT BE HEATED: (Leave these items together clearly marked "DO NO HEAT"
- Flammable items such as solvents, butane lighters, lamp fuel, fuel for food warmers, ammunition
- All aerosol and pressurised cans – including deodorants, hairspray, cleaning products, bug spray, asthma inhalers, spray paint, fire extinguishers and oxygen tanks
- Medicine/medication and foods that can melt. Place these items in the refrigerator
- Musical instruments, Large items such as a piano can be treated, however may need re-tuning
- Vinyl records, ink printer cartridges, photo negatives and film strips
- Wax items such as candles, wax figurines, wax crayons, waxy cosmetics and oil paintings
