How Do I Know if I have Bed Bugs?
What are the signs of bed bugs? Signs of bed bugs can include bites to your skin (see image above). Generally they are on areas exposed such as your neck, arms or legs and happen during the night when you are asleep.
Its advisable to check your bedding as you may find small brown spots on your bedding or furniture, this could be bed bug faeces. You may also find spots of blood on your bedding, these could be from the bites or from squashing them.
You may also see dark spots on bed slats or around skirting boards. These are eggs so you will almost certainly need heat treatment.
How Can I Check for Bed Bugs?
To identify bed bugs, use a credit card to scrape an area of the bed and you may see eggs or faeces. Bed bugs are around 4-7mm long and brown so you can see them with the naked eye. Try using a torch around the bed to look for early signs of bugs or their eggs. It may be better to check at night time as this is when they are most active.
